In order to make this work on my Kubuntu Karmic system I had to change the
Inherits line to:
Inherits=hicolor,gnome (no space)

Testing karmic-proposed cryptsetup (2:1.0.6+20090405.svn49-1ubuntu7.1) :
Still doesn't solve the issue with encrypted /tmp not mounting at boot.
(Encrypted swap with random key and encrypted /home with fixed key-file
do work, as previously).
So that's a proposed fix doesn't change or improve
One (some?) of the last updates seem to have improved the situation a
lot. But I still get sometimes the bad behaviour described above.
(probably went from 1 in 10 to 9 in 10 normal start ups)

Recently, after several refreshments the problem seems to be solved,
since all the claimed problems disappeared. Now sound, screen resolution
and web camera functions are normal.
I guess, the problem has been solved, so as I do not need any further
actions.

I have the same problem here.
I have a n97, and I just can't use it as a modem if I'm using gnome-bluetooth.
Blueman works as expected.
As gnome-bluetooth is the default option available on karmic, I see that as a
HUGE usability problem.
