kernel for now as it concerns a problem booting into the LiveCD, but
xorg may be at fault as well since you said installing the custom driver

I have an AMD Sempron 3400+, 1.2GB memory + GeForce 6100 nForce 405
'integrated' graphics.
They work well on 11.04 showing Flash Youtube/Iplayer full screen, but
are utterly useless on 11.10, so I have re-installed 11.04 and all is
well again.
Tried both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of 11.10 and
