[Bug 922473] [NEW] Typo mistake in description nearby DefaultType directive

2012-01-27 Thread Dimiter Arruor Nikov
Public bug reported:

There are small typo mistake in description about directive
'DefaultType' which appears after upgrade to version 2.2.21-5ubuntu1.

Typo is located in phrase In cases where no good assumption can be
made, letting the default MOME type unset is suggested instead of
forcing the browser to accept incorrect metadata. on line 177.

It should be 'MIME type' instead of 'MOME type'.

[Bug 909828] Re: Tomcat needs update to prevent hash function DoS attack

2012-01-27 Thread Marc Deslauriers
There are now updated tomcat6 packages that fix this issue, and
CVE-2012-0022 in -proposed. Since the patch is quite intrusive, they
will stay in -proposed until they get some testing.

If you would like to help, please enable -proposed, test the updates,
and post your results here.

Thanks.

[Blueprint servercloud-p-hdp-hadoop] Ubuntu Server - Hadoop

2012-01-27 Thread James Page
Blueprint changed by James Page:

Whiteboard changed:
  Status 20122501

Dev packages avaliable for hadoop, hive, pig and hbase in
  http://launchpad.net/~hadoop-ubuntu/+archive/dev

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hadoop-ubuntu/dev

  Target versions of Hadoop components:

  hadoop-0.20.205.0
  hcatalog-0.2.0
  pig-0.9.0
  hbase-0.90.4
  hive-0.7.1
  # the script I got from Hortonworks labels this as hive-0.7.1+ which includes
fixes to hive. - Yes - we might need to look at that - we should be able to
overlay the fixes if need be without rebuilding the entire project
  zookeeper-3.3.2

Q: Their website indicates they will use ambari as something
devops/juju-like. Clearly we want to use juju but have they made any ambari
assumptions?
A: No idea - one to ask Matt

  Package naming:

  hadoop
  hcatalog
  pig
  hbase
  hive

  Needs confirmation (conflicts with archive):

  zookeeper

  Assumptions:

Packaging will use bigtop as a base.
   - reuse of control file structure will help support bigtop packages in juju
charms as and when they support precise.
Java will NOT be rebuilt during the package build process.
Native libraries will be rebuilt during the package build process.
Q: What does this mean for the hive embedded in hcatalog (via
hcatalog-0.2.0/hive/external)? I'm guessing we just use the hdp-hive package we
create.
Patches may be required for native build components.
Debconf configuration in packages is useful for Juju charms and should be
applied where appropriate.
--- Debconf currently in use: namenode, jobtracker and hdfs_dir
Binary distributions will be used from upstream (no source build by default).
Q: Exactly what does this mean in this context? Binary distributions of ...
Are these the jar files inside the hortonworks/apache source (e.g.
./hive-0.7.1+/lib/javaewah-0.3.jar?
A: So most of the apache projects ship a binary distribution tarball which
includes all of the compile Java etc so we should not build from source - just
re-use these jars etc...

  Challenges:

hcatalog not packaged in bigtop trunk (need to check branches)
  JAVA_HOME and use of openjdk-6/7? JAVA_HOME detection - bigtop use a
specific package for this (bigtop-utils) which tries to guess - might be worth
re-using.
java-package as recommended approach to re-packaging Oracle java for Ubuntu
(generates Debian packaging from upstream binary distro).
Kerberos security - probably actually needs to be a charm configuration
option to secure a cluster.
Q: For Kerberos, do we have the necessary dependencies to get this done? If
so, I can do the charm work.j
Q: Re: Kerberos. We may need to really look into this as this will end up
affecting not only hadoop but, all of the other parts ( hive, pig, etc. ) as
well. This can really complicate the packaging/charming as well so, we may not
have time to get it all done in this cycle. Just my thoughts.
MultiArch native libraries in hdp-hadoop package - should not must.
Hive contains patches for hcatalog support - we need to work these in somehow
(maybe a overlay to the binary re-distribution).

  hcatalog:
External dependency on mysql-connector? and maybe mysql?
No binary distribution - only source so will need to be built locally to
produce release tarbal.

[Bug 916153]

2012-01-27 Thread Marc Deslauriers
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Since the package referred to in this bug is in universe or
multiverse, it is community maintained. If you are able, I suggest
coordinating with upstream and posting a debdiff for this issue. When a
debdiff is available, members of the security team will review it and
publish the package. See the following link for more information:

[Bug 922594] [NEW] Assertion in slap_listener

2012-01-27 Thread Jan J
Public bug reported:

While trying to reproduce Ubuntu Bug #921489 on a more modern release

The test I am using is four threads of

while true; do ldapsearch -Y GSSAPI -H ldap://ldap.example.com uid=user

within three minutes the server fails printing the following message

slap_listener: Assertion `((slap_daemon.sd_index[(sfd)]) == -1)' failed.

gdb output:

2012-01-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
Hm, the template does fail on several errors, but yes it does not fail
when lxcguest fails to install.

It might be best to make the script set -e.

I'll create a new bug to track fixing that.

[Bug 912066] Re: /etc/fstab contains incorrect device for swap partition when no ephemeral disk present.

2012-01-27 Thread Kiall Mac Innes
This is a nova bug all right, supplies the incorrect device name in the
ec2 metadata.

Nova supplies the following:

 'block-device-mapping': {'ami': 'vda',
  'root': '/dev/vda',
  'swap': '/dev/vdc'},

When it should supply this:

 'block-device-mapping': {'ami': 'vda',
  'root': '/dev/vda',
  'swap': '/dev/vdb'},

It seems to nova asks libvirt to attach the swap device at /dev/vdc, but
since libvirt+kvm simply uses the supplied device name as an ordering
hint, the device is actually attached at /dev/vdb

[Bug 922650] Re: Lucid needs the fix for PHP Bug #33210

2012-01-27 Thread Clint Byrum
This was released in v5.3.3 upstream, so Fix Released on the main bug
task.

Its worth backporting to Lucid, as workarounds and detecting which JPEGs
seem difficult and haphazard at best.

Mark, we are *very* far behind on stable release updates for lucid. If
you could add the requisite SRU justification to the bug description, as
described here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates

Then that will help get this into lucid-proposed faster. Also if you
attach a debdiff with the patch added to the package, and subscribe the
'ubuntu-sponsors' team to this bug, it should get looked at relatively
quickly.

The patch is here:

http://svn.php.net/viewvc/php/php-

[Bug 922425] Re: package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.54-1ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100

Hi Mark, thanks for taking the time to file a bug report.

Setting up mysql-server-5.1 (5.1.54-1ubuntu4) ...
invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/mysql not found.

If you forcibly removed /etc/init.d/mysql , dpkg will respect that and
leave it gone, as it is considered a configuration file.

Try this:

dpkg --force-confmiss -i /var/cache/apt/archives/mysql-
server-5.1_5.1.54-1ubuntu4_i386.deb

And then

dpkg --configure -a

Marking as Incomplete pending response.

Attempted to package 2.7.1, but getting some weird failures because the
build scripts seem to make use of git, which is not shipped with the
tarball. Probably a bug in the way they're generating their dist
tarballs.

[Bug 922646] Re: precise alternate LVM failed to install: no root file system

2012-01-27 Thread Colin Watson
OK. There are multiple problems here.

 1) parted has stopped probing DM devices that aren't DM-RAID. partman-base
needs it to support this.
 2) partman parses the output of 'multipath -l' to decide whether a device is a
multipath device. Foolishly, multipath prints errors to standard output, such
as a complaint about dm-multipath not being loaded.
 3) dmraid-udeb depends on multipath-udeb for kpartx. There is no kpartx-udeb.

For 1), I'm going to restore this support; it's part of parted's
interface now and shouldn't be broken.

For 2), mostly we avoid this because we only ever install multipath-udeb
in code that modprobes dm-multipath, but dmraid-udeb just broke this
assumption. Fixing this properly seems fiddly, not least because I
can't test that I haven't broken multipath in the process, so I'm
inclined to just restore this assumption by creating kpartx-udeb and
having dmraid-udeb depend on that.

[Bug 913464] Re: rabbit creates new PAM session

2012-01-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundation's Bug Bot
The attachment rabbitmq-server_2.6.1-1ubuntu4.debdiff of this bug
report has been identified as being a patch in the form of a debdiff.
The ubuntu-sponsors team has been subscribed to the bug report so that
they can review and hopefully sponsor the debdiff. In the event that
this is in fact not a patch you can resolve this situation by removing
the tag 'patch' from the bug report and editing the attachment so that
it is not flagged as a patch. Additionally, if you are member of the
ubuntu-sponsors team please also unsubscribe the team from this bug
report.

Re: [Bug 922645] Re: ubuntu template should fail on error

2012-01-27 Thread Serge Hallyn
Quoting Clint Byrum (cl...@fewbar.com):
Simple change, I think its worth backporting to oneiric.

I'm happy to SRU it, but note that precise has already had some
changes to lxc-create and lxc-destroy which allowed this to be
a two-line change. So for oneiric it'll be a bit (but not too
much) bigger.

[Bug 921397] Re: Speaker audio channel goes mute after plugging in the headphone

2012-01-27 Thread David Henningsson
Actually a slightly better workaround would be to open
/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output-headphones.conf

And change:

[Element Speaker]
switch = off

to

[Element Speaker]
switch = mute

...that way the port will switch, which means you can have different
volumes for speaker and headphones, but Speaker playback switch will
not mute when headphones is selected.

I have analyzed your issue a bit, but I'm unsure whether this is
actually a bug in the codec hardware, or if it's related to the GPIOs.
Marking as triaged for now.

[Bug 819856] Re: Change the default Ubuntu window resizing mode back to Normal (currently Rectangle)

2012-01-27 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Note: this is a downstream Ubuntu enhancement request. Upstream compiz
still defaults to Normal, despite bug 803296.

** Description changed:

+ ENHANCEMENT REQUEST
+
+ All other window managers (Gnome Shell, Metacity) and operating systems
+ use live resizing, and Ubuntu used to as well. We think it should be the
+ default again because it just looks nicer.
+
+ NOTE: This enhancement is blocked by bug 803296 at the very least.
+
+
+ ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
+
  Problem occurs with: Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04, 8.10, 9.04, 9.10, 10.04, 10.10,
11.04, Ocelot alpha 2
Does not occur with: Ubuntu 7.04 and earlier (or any version running
Metacity), Windows 95 and later, Mac OS X 10.0 and later

  1. Install Ubuntu on a machine for which Compiz is installed by default.
  2. Restart into Ubuntu, and open a window.
  3. Hold down the mouse or touchpad button on the window's resize area, and
move the pointer.

What happens: A brown or orange rectangle appears, at the size the window
will be, until you release the button.
What should happen: The window resizes as you drag.

  Workaround: http://superuser.com/questions/239397/how-do-i-turn-on-live-
  window-resizing-in-ubuntu-10-10

The equivalent problem was fixed for Xubuntu in bug 749665.

[Bug 704105] Re: Resize grip always appears in bottom right of GTK+2.0 windows

2012-01-27 Thread Timothy Arceri
The problem is caused by Ubuntu back porting grips to gtk2 (from gtk3).
gtk2 applications have not been written expecting grips to be there.

Re: [Bug 922162] Re: pdf output file is 6 times bigger than if created by simple-scan

2012-01-27 Thread tranchais
Le 26/01/2012 17:36, Jeffrey Ratcliffe a écrit :
This depends heavily on the compression options you chose when saving
the PDF, and whether you embedded OCR output. Please start with

 gscan2pdf --log=log

save a PDF, close gscan2pdf, and post the log file.

Thank you for your quick answer.
In my scanning options I use neither ocr output nor file cleaning (I use
a french user interface, it might be scan cleaning instead of file cleaning)
You will find as attached files:
1. the log output (log_gscan.txt)
2. the file as output by gscan2pdf (test_gscan2pdf_1_500-12.pdf) : 500
means white threshold=0.500 and 12 black threshold=0.12
3. the file as output by simple-scan (test_simplescan_1.pdf

You will notice that, in additionto the file size problem, the quality
of the output file is much better with simple-scan.

When the same document sheet is scanned with the default threshold
values (white=0.005 and black=0.12) the file size goes down to 317,2 kb,
which is still 4 times the size of simple-scan, with no visible quality
improvement.

[Bug 884943] Re: Set to default sets a wrong value

2012-01-27 Thread Julien Olivier
From my tests, it seems that the keys for which the bug occurs are keys
for which Ubuntu sets a different default from upstream (show files on
the desktop, default font, default GTK theme etc...). So I guess Ubuntu
changed the default value, but, somehow, the upstream default value
still appears in dconf-editor's UI as the default.

2012-01-27 Thread Dimiter Arruor Nikov
Public bug reported:

There are small typo mistake in description about directive

Typo is located in phrase In cases where no good assumption can be

[Bug 397552] Re: [Solved 50%] Rhythmbox crash (no sound, but the interface contunue to work) after , and exactly after, 3 song, whatever it play...

2012-01-27 Thread Oscar Rivera
Gabriel, I will try what you suggested. By the way, I have been using Ubuntu
Studio 11.10 and ever since this problem started, I switched to Banshee in
order to listen to music. In prior Ubuntu Studio releases (11.04 and older) I
didn't have this problem.
I already tried the update option and that didn't work, so now I'll try the
re-installation idea. I'll post something here as soon as I find out if the
Re-Installation works or not.
Thanx
