[Bug 975985] [NEW] please start sshd as early as possible during boot

The server is pingable during that time, but doesn't allow ssh access.
It would be nice if I could ssh in after the essential filesystems (/,

[Bug 975973] Re: integrate with bind package

2012-04-07 Thread Jelmer Vernooij
Ideally we should have provision generate /etc/samba/named.conf.samba or
something alone those lines instead; this would make it unnecessary to
provide custom apparmor rules for the configuration file. It would be
nice if bind provided some sort of mechanism that allowed external
applications to install custom configuration files

Also marking as affecting bind, as there is AFAIK not yet any support in
bind to allow other packages to extend its configuration, and since the
usr.sbin.named apparmor profile lives in the bind9 package.

[Bug 975743] [NEW] error Addressbook: Error: Could not load addressbook

2012-04-07 Thread kapetr
Public bug reported:

When run sflphone-client-gnome from shell I can see the error message:
error Addressbook: Error: Could not load address book

And I can't access the address book.

The evolution itself is not running, but
/usr/lib/evolution/e-addressbook-factory yes.
Evolution Data Server is installed.
BTW: The problem was in U11.10 too - even if evolution itself running.

I have added contact with pnone-number by gnome-contacts.

[Bug 949359] Re: new upstream bluefish version fixes major bugs: Freeze Exception

Hi,

Thanks for the screenshot. The only difference I see is the C Apache
DHTML DocBook ... part, that is missing. Is this the one you are
speaking about? If so, this is then not fixed in 2.2.2 ...

[Bug 651694] Re: WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.35/lib/kref.c:34 kref_get+0x2d/0x30()

2012-04-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
srjek, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Maverick
reached EOL on April 2012.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD
images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in a
supported release from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal).
It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to
this report.

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 896674] Re: dbus-daemon and gnome-system-monitor peg the CPU at 100%

2012-04-07 Thread Lucid
I was also experiencing this problem, same specs as OP.

I found after researching the same issue it related (for some people) to having
a audio CD moutned in their cd drive.
This wasn't the case for me - it was due to my iPhone being connected.

I would suggest unmounting devices and seeing if it resolves the issue
for you.. Well, as a work around at least.

[Bug 839485] Re: Dash - the Dash should vertically resize if there is not enough content to fill the available area

2012-04-07 Thread Pablo Almeida
Regardless of what becomes the default behaviour, I think #7 is a great
idea. It's informative, helpful for begginnes and will also sort of
address the issue of nothing matches your search appearing when the
user first opens the Dash and types nothing.

2012-04-07 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
carltonh, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu
better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue?
Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images
are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command in the
development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-
testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon
next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and
deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your
results.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 975758] [NEW] wallpaper doesn't change when /home is on a different partition

2012-04-07 Thread Omega-xis
Public bug reported:

this issue is present on my desktop (upgraded from 11.10) and my laptop (fresh
12.04 install)
they both have a seperate /home partition which somehow cannot be accessed
while in lightdm login screen which means the greeter doesn't change the
wallpaper while browsing all the users...
the wallpapers I've chosen are in /home/niek/pictures which is located on the
second partition...

steps to reproduce:
install ubuntu using live-cd or usb-stick.
choose at the partition screen something else
creat 3 partitions, 1 for root (/ -- ext4) one for home (/home -- ext4)
and a swap partition.
then install ubuntu. at first run change your wallpaper and you'll see it

[Bug 811921] Re: Clicking on icons in Nautilus changes focus

2012-04-07 Thread Greg Merchan
Guess there's no way to withdraw a comment.

This is an old bug present in perhaps every X toolkit and window
manager. Fixing it requires fixing both of those and perhaps the
applications, depending on how the toolkit is fixed. There is at present
either not the knowledge or not the will to make the necessary changes,
in part because keeping support for anything other than click-to-focus
is tricky.

I've seen that Bill Spitzak is working on making sure Wayland gets drag
and drop right from the start, so maybe some future X-less Nautilus will
work right on Wayland. From the look of it, Wayland was headed for
freezing in the bad assumptions people have made on X before Bill
showed up; at least X is only made to seem awful in this regard because
people misuse it.

GNOME's BTS doesn't allow for bugs that are due to multiple components
and their interaction, so it's necessary to have multiple reports. Bugs
there against against one component which is part of the problem have
been marked as duplicates of other bugs which are part of the problem.
This means there's no tracking of the issues particular to the
components, and defeats the purpose of a bug tracking system.

Launchpad does allow for bugs which affect multiple components, so this
could be merged with bug #803872 . But that bug was already changed from
affecting nautilus to affecting compiz. It affects both . . . and Gtk+.
(It can't be fixed in Nautilus until Gtk+ is fixed, unless Nautilus does
some really hacky stuff or changes toolkit.)

But it's been over 8 years since I presented a solution. The
aforementioned work in Wayland can replicate the solution because
Wayland doesn't have X's political baggage. I'm tired of this.

Never mind, I found the problem in the attached DpkgTerminalLog.gz, i.e.
`service epoptes start` fails if epoptes is already running.

To work around the problem, please run:
sudo service epoptes stop
sudo apt-get install -f

It'll be fixed in the next epoptes version.

[Bug 974709] Re: edit-log not editable by webserver

2012-04-07 Thread FranklinPiat
/usr/share is a read-only, as specified in Linux Filesystem Hierarchy
Standard[1] ... you should never chown/chmod any file in that directory
tree (well, except /usr/local).

Your wiki configuration is incorrect. See the README.Debian file on how
the wiki should be configured. (basically, your wiki instance should be
in /var/lib/mywiki ; then modify files in /etc/moin accordingly ; You
migth need to modify your webserver configuration too).

[Bug 975770] Re: package linux-image-3.2.0-22-generic 3.2.0-22.35 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-04-07 Thread Brad Figg
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report on this issue.

However, given the number of bugs that the Kernel Team receives during
any development cycle it is impossible for us to review them all.
Therefore, we occasionally resort to using automated bots to request
further testing. This is such a request.

We have noted that there is a newer version of the development kernel
than the one you last tested when this issue was found. Please test
again with the newer kernel and indicate in the bug if this issue still
exists or not.

You can update to the latest development kernel by simply running the
following commands in a terminal window:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If the bug still exists, change the bug status from Incomplete to
Confirmed. If the bug no longer exists, change the bug status from
Incomplete to Fix Released.

If you want this bot to quit automatically requesting kernel tests, add
a tag named: bot-stop-nagging.

Thank you for your help, we really do appreciate it.
