Ubuntu on it). After installing and reboot the default tty is 1 instead
of 7. I have to do a ctrl-alt-7, to get to the Desktop.

Looks as though this bug has been around since 2001. Sadly it retains an
upstream priority of normal which ignores the very serious impact it has
on Ubuntu first impressions and greatly highlights one of the problems
with FOSS.

I can confirm this on an Acer Travelmate C200. The stylus worked very
well out-of-the box on Feisty and the Gutsy Tribes (LiveCDs and
installed systems). But with the new Gutsy Beta it neither works with
the LiveCD nor with the installed system. The reason are the following

Gutsy now uses Debian's im-switch setting which sets QT_IM_MODULE=xim in
/etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim. So this bug is fixed.
The /etc/X11/xinit/xinput.d/scim-immodule setting unfortunately doesn't
address scim-qtimm yet, but that's a separtate issue.

Edubuntu on top of an ubuntu server which was also acting like a router

I've been running Gutsy since about Tribe 4 (alternate install is all
that would work), and there are numerous problems on this machine now.
Something somewhere is broken in update manager, because my .dmrc file
got mangled, Direct Rendering has broken, compiz crashes, XGL
rhY: If your users require the use of a Wacom tablet, then simple don't
install the xserver-xgl package until this bug is fixed and they won't
have any troubles. The xserver-xgl package is not installed by default,
and is not required for any critical functionality.

Wacom tablet doesn't work
I have had none of the APIC error on CPU0: 40(40) messages in my dmesg
log since my last posting. However, I did continue to get the crashes

I would like to confirm this bug. I'm on an AMD 2800+ with an NForce
chipset MB, Windows XP is installed on a 40GB Seagate Master and I was
installing Ubuntu Gutsy Beta on a 160GB Maxtor drive. If the debug logs
are needed, I will be happy to supply them.

are you running xgl? xgl is known to take over direct rendering. try running
regular X.
XGL is also known to make 3d apps crash.
Your video card is known to be capable of running compiz without xgl.

k did find the problem, i have installed fglrx, after trying them x wont
start so i copied my old xorg-conf with radeon settings and it starts a
few days later i recognized the glxinfo problem and i dont remembered
this driver switch or dont get the idea that the fglrx driver could be
the problem
mupen appears to be unmaintained upstream. someone would have to be
willing to become our upstream for mupen support.
