For me it looks like this is resolved in 9.04. Pulling and/or plugging
the ethernet cable is almost instantly (within 2 seconds) detected by
the indicator in the top Gnome menu bar.

Thanks for the suggestion. It worked. My Windows shares become available
immediately after my wireless connections start.
I had one extra line in my /etc/network/interfaces:
auto eth0
After commenting it a rebooting to test my shares became active again
automatically. I don't pretend
I suffer the same problem with the brand new jaunty. This security issue
is still not fixed, more than two years later?

Don't think this is a generic problem. I installed squid on a fresh
8.10, did a do-release-upgrade to Jaunty, and Squid was still working.

Mysql had already been installed. I don't know why I got the failed install
message. Since Mysql was already configured, I opted NOT to use
dbconfig-common to configure the settings. Then I got the

I don't know if it is the same problem, but I've got a Dell e6500 with
built in 3G, network-manager in Jaunty recognizes the card and is
willing to configure a Mobile Broadband network for it.
When I try to connect to it, it tell me it couldn't, yet, if I look at
the logs, I see it authenticate

I have edited my dsdt and fixed my errors. It not only solved this bug but
also my laptop now sleeps and wakes up just fine. This fix is worth a try

Since upgrading from Intrepid to Jaunty I am unable to download photos
off my Canon Powershot A510.
On plugging the camera in, it is recognised. If I choose to open it with F-Spot
I get a dialog asking me to select the camera from this list:

pressing a few times the return key. But the system still hangs for at

Same bug in Jaunty Release, installing python-numeric is a workaround.
Seems there's an upstream fix, it's just not in the repositories:
