you are suggesting to look for such information in /etc/init.d instead of
/etc/event.d. I agree with that, but I wonder if Ubuntu package include such
configuration, i.e., a file for upstart in /etc/init.d, or if this file is
completely user managed.

Right, the upgrade error is known and it is the reason to upgrade to 6.0.4-10.

I'm not in charge of the bug, but if your problem is missing passwd
information, then the behavior of PAM might be correct.
PAM is supposed to handle authentication only, NSS is the responsible part of
getting user's info.
You might have a closer look to:

I noticed that the two /etc/network/interface had a different order for iface
lines and moving inet6 before ipv4 ipaliases solved the problem.

The driver does not compile anymore because __devinit/__devexit macros
have been deprecated in Linux 3.8 (see
https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/1766601/ ). Redefining __devinit,
__devexit and __devexit_p as empty macros fixes the code, that can be
successfully compiled and installed on Linux
I have been able to reproduce the bug in Saucy, same message about the
swap. I'll try this workaround

Definitely, minimum icon size 32x32 in Unity 3D is too large for many screens,
it seems tuned for visually impaired people.
Nothing against half-blind people, of course.
