I have my laptop lid close event set to Suspend, and when I manually

Ah, I now see what the problem is. When the mp3s are first being
created, they have the extension .part, then are renamed to have the
extension .mp3. Banshee first sees the .part extension, believes the
file is in some format that it can't render, and doesn't change its mind

I adapted the instructions from this comment:

adding owner /var/jay/.local/share/telepathy*/ rw, and the like to
my /etc/apparmor.d/usr.lib.telepathy file, then running:
sudo

Ever since the upgrade to Oneiric, Edge Resistance and Edge Attraction
seem to be conflicting. When both are activated, and a window is moved
toward the edge of a screen, it is first attracted to it and then
repelled from it, very quickly.

In Oneiric, very few system sounds play. I hear button-clicking sounds
if I have those on, and there is a small beep when Thunderbird gets a
new mail, and IM sounds from Empathy work. But more general, system-wide
sounds
