That's right. I forgot it actually sends a acpi event. Which
thinkpad-acpi is catches then sending the KEY_UNKNOWN keycode. The link you
pointed out to the patch whould just label the acpi event in thinkpad-acpi but
still would not help solving the whole problem.

Also a bit of history at the time as well there was a lot of
disscussion of if thinkpad-acpi should try and do the muting and unmuting.
Basically trying to do this at the kernel level. Though nothing ever panned out
with this discussion.

The work around works for the most part when installing over usb cd/dvd rom.
You nolonger have a bunch of i/o error messages and you are now prompted to
press ENTER.
The only thing you do not have plymouth splash screen. It's in all text.
The major issue is solved by the upstart fix.

Working with Rez (the author) to redo patch. Dell is now aware it caused
regression with other vendors.
Looking like this patch will now not make initial 10.10 release at this
point.

Just tried 9/19 build 10.10 build the problem no longer shows up. Now
plymouth is showing up and giving the screen to press enter. So the problem

This is correct. According to Wikipeidia the media I'm putting in there
is, a BD-R, is only writeable once. Don't have a BD-RE yet. But that is the
read/write version.
But it says the disk type 00 .. which I'm not sure if that is

Can you file a new bug for the Lenovo U160 and paste the link here ..
make sure to include Xorg log so folks know the screen. Also try the
latest daily build of 10.10 here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-
live/current/

Oh also if you put the latest Maverick on a usb stick .. once the usb
stick has been created .. you have to edit syslinux/syslinux.cfg and
remove ui from the lbeginning of the last line.

vendor = LGD
product id =703
It is a 1366x768 panel.

LGD stands for LG Display .. so the panel is an LG panel.
