Greetings!
Upgrading 9.10-10.04 on 5 IBM blade servers resulted in numerous dependency
bugs with lots of reboots required,
freezes, and requests (from apt) to
dpkg --configure -a
run it with the --fix-missing option.
In total took me about 2

Numerous bugs on 9.10-10.04 upgrade
Please disregard the last part of my post pertainng to amd64, since I am
reporting a bug from a laptop remotely connected to the blade servers.
Besides, filing a bug allows for just one attachment. I add the other 4

Forgot to mention:
1. my servers automatically update very often (in /etc/crontab), so my 9.10 was
not rusty before I started the upgrade to 10.04
2. during the upgrade there were also numerous reports only partial update

Maybe this is unrelated, but nevertheless:
when I tried to Computer Janitor, on each blade it took several (3-5)
iterations before all obsolete/uneeded packages were wiped out, i.e.,
the janitor cannot resolve dependencies in just one go. However,
dependencies are represented as a DAG so one
Thank you, hope it will work and I will test it asap. However,
I am traveling and will be away from my server until Wednesday

Unfortunately:
1. Ubuntu 10.04 rescue option does not have scp and ssh (I wanted to
scp them but could not), whereas CentOS 5.4, which has them, does not like
ext4.
2. Ubuntu Live does not understand RAIDs
3. Thus the logs have gone with the CentOS installation
4. Moreover, I started

I decided to simplify matters by installing a small extra IDE/ATA disk for the

partman and grub2 fail in server amd64
I repeated the installation experiment twice, this time with 3 SATA disks on

they were on IDE):
1. with 10.04-beta2-server-amd64
2. with the daily server-amd64 (18/4/2010)
getting basically the same results for /boot on raid1.
