No I don't believe so (from memory). It's quite possible that this
problem no longer occurs, as both the nVidia drivers and Compiz has
moved on considerably since I reported this. When I get a chance I'll
try to replicate it again on the PC I originally had this problem with.

By tearing I mean, vsync is not enabled. I actually had a go at
debugging this and quite frankly the code of fusion icon is something I
would be embarrassed of if it were my work. I'm not using it any more,
mainly because I have no need to turn compiz on and off any more.

Tested successfully on Ubuntu Hardy i386 (released version). I was able
to compile and use the driver 100% with no problems.

When using the fusion tray icon to switch window managers, it appears

In step 3 the switch is by means of the fusion icon tray menu (didn't

If nobody else jumps in before me, I'd be happy to give debugging this
problem a go. I'm not running Hardy at the moment because there were a
few too many bugs for me at this stage, but when I install it again
later this month following the release I'd be glad to help.

I can confirm this defect in Gutsy - I am having exactly the same issue.
I have noted that it only occurs if I boot the system with a disc in the
drive. If I reboot, remove the disc and boot up again, the issue is
resolved and I can start using the drive again.
