I found a fix for the issue. While I am not sure what is causing it (firefox or ubuntu) the problem is in the mimeTypes.rdf. delete the file while firefox is not running and the problem is gone. Whenever firefox downloads a file with a wrong mimetype it will record the broken mimetime along the

Installing linux-image-extra does the trick. I noticed it was installed for the older images, but upgrading to -24/-25/-26 did not pull it. Would be nice if I would not have to manually make sure the package is installed in the future. And a keyboard driver should perhaps not reside in an
