thanks for your advise. I upgraded to the latest bios but it still crashes on
resume from S3. With the old bios, I could see kernel messages. With the new
bios, I'm only getting a black screen (backlight on). I can't ping the machine
in this state.

Same problem here. Padevchooser and dependencies are installed.
No volume control available, totem freezes when trying to change volume.
Sometimes the hole desktop freezes, SSHing from another system and killing
totem helps.

it's a different problem:
I have 3 additional partitions which are mounted using fstab on boot.
When a fsck runs on one of those partitions, gdm starts while fsck is still
running. The partitions are not mounted then.

It seems problem 1 has been fixed in alpha 3 of ubuntu 9.04.
The thirt problem persists. When resuming from S3, the leds go to on
and the drive spins up. There is no background light, the screen stays
black and the leds at the network connector stay dark.

I confirm this problem. For about two weeks I was unable to login. I
don't know if I did any changes to the system.
- Local login always displayed the login-promt again
- ssh closed connection
- authentication for root-permissions within gdm was not possible, it reacted
as if the cancel-button
With my machine (GA-P35-DS4) it beeps sometimes and shows a black screen.
Then there is a constant beep-sound which only stops by executing the beep

a temporary solution for my problem is to force AGP 1x mode because that
prevents it from freezing.
With Windows XP, it runs fine on AGP 4x even with fastwrite enabled.
