7.10 installation doesn't work with MSI
Couldn't get anything working (went into failsafe mode in 800x600) when
doing dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg so I ran it with an empty
xorg.conf instead. Hope it helps.

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-2-generic
I have configured ipv6 statically in /etc/network/interfaces. Had this
running with 8.04 and both 2.6.24 and own-compiled 2.6.26.3, no
problems. Now after fresh install of 8.10a4 I am having IPv6 trouble.
After bringing it
After I restarted networking (networking stop, ifconfig eth0 down,
networking start, kill dhclient) ipv6 worked for a few hours. now it
doesn't again:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# ping6 2a00:801:b::1
PING 2a00:801:b::1(2a00:801:b::1) 56 data bytes
^C
--- 2a00:801:b::1 ping statistics ---
3 packets
I've now been running 2.6.27-2-generic for 36 hours and trying to put
some load on it, and haven't seen any hiccups yet. The problem still
exists in 2.6.24, but I guess it won't be fixed, and 2.6.26 and 2.6.27
both seem fine.
Let's close this and I'll re-open a new bug against 2.6.27 if I get
I just installed alpha4 again, and if I choose safe mode the
installation screen is all garbled but not garbled enough so that I
can't get thru the complete install. After reboot, X boots properly and
I get a 1280x1024 screen that is not garbled, but is not the correct
resolution either.
So it
Sorry, when I say not the correct resolution, I have a 1920x1200
monitor and I only get 1280x1024 on it.

After doing dist-upgrade and rebooting again with 2.6.27 kernel, I get
the identical garbled graphics as in the installer.
If I then install nvidia proprietary driver 177 I get good graphics and
acceleration is working.

I will either re-install alpha4 and upgrade to 2.6.27 kernel or wait for
alpha5, depending on time during the weekend.

I'm currently running a stock 2.6.26 from kernel.org with has proven itself
stable:
Linux via 2.6.26 #1 SMP Mon Jul 14 08:07:27 CEST 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
20:46:13 up 38 days, 23:12, 5 users, load average: 0.76, 0.46, 0.28
So I guess intrepid should be stable since it's also based on 2.6.26.
I have been running a own-compiled 2.6.26-rc8 now for 6 days with
sometimes very heavy load and no oops or crash, so whatever the problem
is, it seems to be fixed in 2.6.26-rc8.

I tried two different 7600GT based cards, the ASUS one with 2xDVI works
ok, the MSI one with 1xDVI and 1xHDMI does not (looks the same as with
7.10)
Everything looks ok in the installer (the livecd I guess it should be
called) until X is started, then the graphics is garbled.
