I did test it previously on the latest upstream kernel 2.6.33 and it seems not
to change anything - the bug still exist. I've seen that in the meantime there
was 2.6.34-rc1 published - I did try to install but this kernel seems to not
start at all on my vostro v13.
Nonetheless I removed

However, adding radeon.modeset=0 gave a good result. My system booted to
console login, but after switching to tty7 I saw well-working X with hardware

When i log into GNOME, my monitor is not recognized, and max resolution is 640
x 480.
When i log into the xterm, all is the same.

There were updates to X-core and the ATI/Radeon driver in the same batch that
contained Plymouth 0.8.0~-14.
To my surprise I can now start up without the dreaded 'nomodeset' option. This
works fine, Plymouth and X all doing what they should. So far, so good.

hardware driver but visual effects Extra or normal are not working. Over and
above, the NVIDIA has released 96.43.16.. on installing it gives the the
distribution-provided pre-install script error.

I have been happily using the GNET13001 for about ten months. The freeze
occurs when the cpu runs too slowly.
To make this thing work, you must first make sure that your kernel
actually supports frequency scaling for the C7. In my case, I had to
recompile the kernel. I do not know if more recent
the correct location is /etc/X11/xorg.conf
unfortunately that will not work for disabling nouveau, you want to add
it to the blacklist so the kernel module won't get loaded. you can do so
by editing /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf (or

For the record, I wasn't quite right on the display plane A/B issue. It
was 0x0010 and 0x0100 that are that pair (Invalid GTT Entry
during Display A Fetch and Invalid GTT Entry during Display B
This problem is related to the ubuntu packaging of the nvidia drivers,
not the drivers themselves, ergo nvidia does not need to know about this
bug.

OK, I've to recall one of the statements I made above, apparently the
BIOS change for the ATI radeon GPU from PCI to PCIe didn't fix the issue

nouveau_vieux_dri.so does not exist in lucid, it is something in mesa
7.8 and the error message is normal and harmless. 2D acceleration is not
dependant on AIGLX, there is not going to be any 3D support for nouveau
in lucid. From your logs 2D EXA acceleration is working as intended.

[i945G] Xorg freezes when using OpenGL

Novueau developers may wish to get additional information from you.
As for Ubuntu, could you please try copying the attached xorg.conf file
to
EGL_i915.so ffb_dri.so are not relevant, ffb_dri.so is for sparc which
has no kernel support and we disable EGL globally. As Timo stated
earlier r600 has been enabled in lucid, and it was not stable enough to
consider enabling for karmic's mesa 7.6. i810_dri.so has always been
enabled.

Would it be possible for you to boot your system, ssh in from another
computer and run “apport-collect 525354”?
If you can't do that, attaching /var/lib/messages from your laptop would
be useful.
