somewhere to default document type, or printed type to PDF. This is
overriding anything you set in LO, hence you re-opening Calc and find

This is a normal function of Windows 7/8 and LO. When installing one
version higher or lower, it is coded to use a central store in this
hidden by default location C:\Users\user account
name\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\config. So installing two
versions will use the same default

Umm!! I've not experienced this. Yes by default LO4 will load and save
the new file formats, but you can change this by File - Save as then
