Re: [libreoffice-users] Calc - Invalid name error - help request

2017-07-28 Thread jorge Rodríguez

Hi again:

I suggest to do this in the Language-Language settings:

*User Interface: Select English US

*Locale Settings: English (Canada)

*Decimal Separator Key: uncheck

*Default Currency: Default CAD (English or French)

*Default Language for Documents: A English Canada or French

*Ignore system input language: check

I did this in my LO, and restart LO, and then LO accept " . "
as decimal separator key

I hope this help,

Jorge Rodríguez

Would you know if there are any override settings in the LO

There exists the setting in Tools > Options > Language Settings >
Languages, where you can determine the decimal separator key.

In addition there is a setting "Ignore system input language", but I
don't know, what effect it has.

Another setting is in the cell properties in Format > Cells. On the tab
"Numbers" you find top right a "Language" drop-down list. You can
determine the language for numbers independent from UI. Do not use the
"Default - xyz" but select the correct language explicitly.

That the places I know, which might influence it.

Kind regards
Regina

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Letter page format size prints portrait pages as landscape on OS X

2017-07-28 Thread bunk3m

Alex,

Apologies if this has already been answered as I only get the daily digest.

In Canada our standard is letter (8.5" x 11"), legal (8.5" x 14"),
tabloid (11" x 17"). Because we use the metric system, PCs usually
default to cm. This is totally useless since our paper standards are in
inches.

I haven't had the problem with HP printers but I print to PDF more than
direct to the printer. PDF production is good. Perhaps the people with
this issue should print to pdf first and then open in Preview and print
the PDF. I've done this in the past when Acrobat did silly things.

Until today I was using LO 5.3.4. Today I upgraded to 5.4 so we'll see
if this changes.

Does anyone have a similar problem?

For those users who don't care to read through the whole shebang of

- it appears to affect only Mac OSX;

- it appears to affect only those users for whom the locale-based
default page setting is Letter - in other words, mainly US and Canadian

- it mainly seems to show up with Brother and HP printers.

Reports from users corresponding to the above much appreciated.

Err, aren't we talking about HTML export? So the alternate text should
be placed as the value of the alt attribute of the img element and
should not be visible on the page at all! But readable by screen
readers?

thanks so much for your great informations that you provided for me.
may i be in contact with you directly?
libreoffice 5/3.4 has many bug fixes related to my books, but
libreoffice 5.3 has a very big issue in accessibility for me which i
did not have in 5.2 and previous versions.
could you please see bug 108582 which i reported?
i tried my best to explane, but i did not recieve reply from developers?
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=108582

but my biggest issues using libreoffice is not supporting diacritics
as general letters and also not supporting sayAll command for screen
reader users.
