The standard English dictionary extension is available from:
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/download/18626
The extension includes dictionaries for:
- en_AU (Australian)
- en_CA (Canadian)
- en_GB (British)
- en_US (American)
- en_ZA (South African)
More information:
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/english-dictionaries-apache-openoffice
Once installed AOO will notify you when an update for this extension is
available.

Installing OO.o

2017-02-24 Thread Nicholas Cady
Please help me. I have been using OpenOffice Writer on a Vista computer for
several years. I just bought a Dell Windows 10 computer, and downloaded
OpenOffice to it. It ran sort of OK, but Windows got quite balky so I deleted
the OO.o.

I really want to use OO.o Writer again. But I read in one place that you need
Java for functionality, and in another that you don’t. So could you please tell
me what I really do need to install and run OO.o Writer?

Thank you for your info and help -- Nick Cady,

for and how to add to Writer ?

You can do that by forcing changes the software's global settings from
the main menu "/Tools -> Options../" item.

This works, but does not give you the flexibility of creating and using
your own personal default template for the Writer word processor.

I can't find any way to permanently change default font

2017-02-24 Thread Doug Harris
I am a writer, and I create a number of new files daily. Every time I do
so, I have to manually change the font/size from Times New Roman to
Calibri, my font of choice, 11 pt being my size of choice.
I can't find a way to make that a permanent change.
Please help.

can't this be fixed somehow?

Re: Writer not accessible on Mac

2017-02-24 Thread Adam Samec
Hello,

for those interested, I found out that at least LibreOffice Writer (I have
tried 5.3.0) is actually able to read back text in the document edit field when
typing or navigating within the document if I enable the "Book mode with two
pages as in an open book". Although with some inconveniences, particularly,
each line of text is treated as a separate edit field which causes VoiceOver to
announce extra information each time you move to another line.

However, there are more accessibility issues in LibreOffice, for instance, some
pop-up menus are not working and some parts of Preferences cannot be accessed
or lead to an application crash, that is, almost the same problems as in
OpenOffice, but at least the most important thing, screen reader feedback in
the document content, is working in LibreOffice, as opposed to OpenOffice.

Best regards

If we know why they are wanting the template, then one might be able to
either suggest an alternative, or create it, using the specifications
provided by the individual that wanted the "Access Denied" template.

That is probably because the "Access Denied" templates appear to be
concentrated on the landing page, and other heavily viewed pages.

Given that the Apache OpenOffice website maintainers don't have access
to the site that delivers the content ...
