Is it possible to remove a password on an existing user so that it gets learnt the next time the user logs in. Would come in handy when a user forgets their password, it would save them having to give out their pass to admin if they ever forget it. I know a lot of users who are paranoid about

I don't think it's vpopmail that's dropping it into that file. It sounds more like mail is being delivered to the vpopmail user on your local system. What does qmail have for it's double bounce account (run /var/qmail/bin/qmail-showctl to see) and also what does your /var/qmail/alias directory
