I can't say evolution isn't working with VGL. Without VGL evolution don't
start at all. With VGL it start but crash in one situation (when I want to
open compose message window).
I do not us tightvnc. I use x2go, it's very good, very fast free client server
TurboVNC works well with both 2D or 3D applications, but if you prefer NX,
that's fine too. I just saw TightVNC mentioned somewhere in the thread and

After this, evolution is doing similar like with VGL. It starts but crashes
after compose is selected.

Then it's definitely outside the scope of this project. Sounds like either an
Evolution bug or some interaction issue with the X proxy (x2go, in your case.)
