Thanks! I'd read a bit about colormaps and pixelmaps, and was
starting to think that it was a problem with the pixel maps
(as the error implies). I decided to try out all the colormap
settings again though, and

Hello,
I just compiled the actual release of XVNC on Solaris x86. It is
compiled on Sokaris 2.8, but should also run on the other releases. I
will
test it on 2.9 the next days. It is available for download on
http://www.schmiddis-flieger.de, together with some hints about
installation - enjoy.
I found out about this program yesterday and it is impressive. I would like
to use it to share a PowerPoint screen to multiple sites, yet it seems much
slower in getting PowerPoint images to another end than if the same full
screen graphic image was being sent from another application. Is there
Yesterday I managed to get VNC working over SSH. At least, I think I
did. Many thanks to the various pieces of documentation found on the
ATT VNC site.
I installed TightVNC 1.2.7 and OpenSSH for Windows 3.4.3 on two Windows
machines, PC1 (Windows XP) and PC2 (Windows 2000). PC2 is the PC

That did the trick. Many thanks. I could have sworn I tried that
yesterday, but I guess I hadn't.
Thanks once again.

it generally runs fine but when dragging windows opaquely from one head to
another, you get partial window refreshes. whole rectangles are left 'white'

I wouldn't trust VNC without a decent firewall backing

firewall to allow only packets to the ports VNC are on
to trickle through from these known ip's, virtualy

Thanks. Is the TightVNC is best performance considering network
transmission? I used some VNC to view PowerPoint from remote site, the
