calculate the pixel aspect ratio. X tells me the geometry is 867mm
x 347mm but the vidmode extension tells me the current resolution is

To use the GeForceFX you either need to be running XFree86 4.3 OR
using NVIDIA's newest binary Linux drivers. The drivers that come with
XFree86 did not support it prior to XFree86 4.3.

In the server? No. I don't suppose something like that would
be difficult to hack, but apps will most likely not be able to deal
with failing pixmap
