I run FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE on my 256M ThinkPad T21, and have installed XFree86-4.3.0,1 from packages, along with the Gnome desktop, package gnome2-2.2.0. I have also compiled the KDE desktop from port kde-3.1 and it also exhibits this problem. My laptop locks up upon termination of the X session.

Hi all, Sorry I forgot to mention I'm on Mac OSX. Using an iBook. I'm having a go at installing version 4.3 now, the version of XFree86 I had sort of appeard when I installed OpenOffice, so I suspect it made a mess of it, seeing as that didn't work either. I'll let you know what happens.
