i2c bus and/or DDC control

I'm looking into writing an app to be able to control display controls via DDC - DDC2ci, or SoftDDC I've been going through the 4.4.0 sourcebase, and while I have seen numerous references on how to implement DDC control at the driver level over the i2c bus. Is there an API, or server extension
