Hi,
Ive installed a RedHat 9.0 and encountered problems with the Xserver. About every 15 minutes it
crashes with an Error message in I830WaitLpRing().
I saw that there was a lot of buzz around it lately but havent managed to
figure out the solution. Ive tried to disable the i830
is minor. Maybe a minor hack of the config file?
Limitation - I'm forbidden to connect the system to my employer's
network when operating Linux, and my dial-up at home never exceeds
19.2 (and rarely hits that), so downloads are virtually impossible.
Thanks in advance...

This may be a random thought, but...
I believe the Lynx OS was set up for embedded use.
As such, it may be optimized for relatively small memories
and this may carry over to display support. Would
TinyX be easier to start from?

fewer dpi.
ie: If the character is 75 dots high, at 75 dpi it's one inch
high, while at 100 dpi it's 3/4 (.75) inch high.
Perhaps the setting should be 75, rather than 100, it's pretty
easy to try out...

deleting wasn't likely to hurt anything.
What I found was that my distro put root's files in the root
directory, which was relatively small. Didn't take long to fill it -
a few trips on-line (Netscape was in root) and a couple of core
dumps.
Good luck

As I understand it, sometimes RH places the XConfig files

appreciated also.

I was unaware of PAM. The distro had it, I followed your

Though it looks like I can relocate them anywhere...

Thanks for working on this. It had me a little nervous (have to run on NT

where I get most postings). I was afraid I may need to suspend for a bit.
