Nobody has any idea? Xubuntu 16.04 does NOT let me install ANY other language beside English and ANY attempts at installing any input method editor failed. This does/did work with xubuntu 14.04 / 15.05 and all other linux flavors I used before. The "Software (center)" does not recognize any

This WAS about installing software. However, I could not make it work .. at all. Fiddling around I ran into much bigger trouble. Originally: Installed Linux Mint 17.2 on a 500 GB HDD Then: installed xubuntu 16.04 on a second (80 GB) HDD (I believe/hope) On boot: get a choice between the two.
