[ANN] moving Yojimbo-Talk to Google Groups!

2008-05-29 Thread Patrick Woolsey
Good afternoon folks,

We're currently in the process of moving all our product discussion lists
to Google Groups.

Next weekend (June 7/8), we will shut this list down and all traffic will
be on the 'Yojimbo Talk' Google Group. We hope that you'll take a moment to
subscribe and join us there!

  http://groups.google.com/group/yojimbo-talk

Please note that historical archives of this list are not currently
available through the Google group. We're investigating ways to get the
archives up to Google. In the meantime, they remain available via
http://www.listsearch.com/TextWrangler/ at the pleasure of LassoSoft,
whose hosting of the archives these many years we greatly appreciate.

Regards,

 Patrick Woolsey

Any solution for folks whose company blocks access to Google Groups?

I believe all Google Groups have XML feeds (RSS/Atom)...would you be
able to fetch them that way?

Hmm, if someone were to send the feed URL, I'd give it a try.

Do they block both web _and_ email from same?

No, just web access. I've asked admins for other groups to add my
address and the list email comes through just fine.

If you were able to add my address to both the Yojimbo and TextWrangler
lists, that would be great.

Replicating Yojimbo, importing/exporting, etc.

2008-05-29 Thread Forrest Aldrich

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to Yojimbo...

I'm interested in replicating my Yojimbo database so I can use it
elsewhere (ie: at work). I'm aware that it has .mac capability, but I
wonder if that's simply a sync of files to the iDisk (copying), and how
would you resolve differences if, say, you do writes in one location and
not the other?

Depending on how that works, I wonder if it would be possible to bypass
.mac dependency and set up something like rsync or unison to replicate
via SSH to an external location.

Finally, I would love to be able to export portions of my Yojimbo
content (ie: some stored tutorials or web pages) for use in smaller
functions like a Wiki. I'm not clear whether that's even possible.

One minor annoyance I find with web page import is the inability to edit
out content like annoying ads. Yojimbo will store the object, code,
etc, and when you view it, you get a nice flashy ad (I wonder if the
code is being executed to pull in new content into that space, too).

I use Firefox along with adblock, but this has no effect on the Archive
in Yojimbo script. I wonder if anyone has a solution to that.

Thanks!

Forrest

It is not; please see:
