I have a pdf file that has a check-mark symbol in it. On one computer the
evince is display the "check-mark". On my other computer the check mark is
displayed as a "square box"
Both computer run save ver. of evince.
pdffonts Km_Ysa.pdf (shows same output on bo
emerging libpaper says
elog "run \"paperconfig -p letter\" as root to use letter-pagesizes"
elog "or paperconf with normal user privileges."
I did the first and when I run
paperconf
it says letter as does
cat /etc/papersize

Try strace on evince and then strace on kghostview and see if kghostview
is opening up a weird font or if it is doing anything really different
than evince.
Also, you could look at the README from kghostview and see who the
maintainer is can
