I believe you can still use my SATA kernel for 3.5.1. I have not tested

Ole, if you could try this with 3.5.1 it would be great. Put the kernel file
in to your /tftpboot and give it a whirl. (But back up the old kernel
first!)

Thnx,

P

Yup, it should be as simple as modifying patches/linux.i386.config to include the drivers and re-compiling. I am not positive whether the libata patches are still required for 2.6 kernel (though they are still available).

On a related note, UseYourOwnKernel.pm sort of works - it takes the kernel from your OS and generates an initrd.img which is compatible with SystemImager and you simply use that to boot your machines.

Cheers,

Bernard

Did you have any experience with using SystemImager 3.5.2
(CVS/SVN) and SATA HDs?

I tried this out with my Systemimager 3.5.2 installation (as
described in
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=7456172
&forum_id=10334 )
on a HP EVO dc7100 desktop PC with Intel 915 chipset and
a SATA disk.

While si_getimage creates an image correctly on the server,
the node
installation phase doesn't work: The SystemImager
installation says
that it can't find /dev/sda (the SATA disk which appears as a SCSI device).

The correct driver for this disk is "ata_piix" (as seen during installation from CD), so it would seem that ata_piix is
missing from
the stock SystemImager kernel. It seems that you'll have to
modify the
SystemImager kernel in order to add SATA support...

I'm using Peter's kernel to support sata installation. It works just fine. Thx Peter ;)
