Hi, I’m installing onto a Precision 380 with 1x
SATA HDD. I boot from CD and the image downloads from my server. I notice some
messages at the start about partitioning /dev/hda1 etc which I wouldn’t
expect to see as my machine is a SATA drive so I’d expect /dev/sda. The
files install but when the install completes I am unable to boot the machine.
If I boot from a grub floppy (to try to install grub) and do root (hd0,0) I get
a message saying the partition doesn’t exist. I’ve checked and
amended the /etc/fstab entries as per a solution in a previous posting so my
entries are: Proc /dev/sda3 - / /dev/sda2 - /boot /dev/sda1 - none (swap) I’ve rerun the si_prepareclient and si_getimage
but to no avail. If I boot from a floppy with fdisk on it there are no
partitions showing. Some of the messages just before I get the “I have
been done…” message are as follows: Probing devices to guess BIOS drives. This may take a
long time. df: Warning: cannot read table of mounted filesystems df: Warning: cannot read table of mounted filesystems Could not find device for /boot. Nor found or not a
block device. Use of uninitialized value in concatenation or string
at /usr/lib/systemconfig/Boot/Grub.pm line 160 Does anyone know what I need to do to get this
working? Any help would be very much appreciated. I feel I’m
very close to getting this working. Regards, Ali |
