I recently had the same problem with the 2950 and was able to get around
this by running si_prepareclient with --my-modules. This created a
kernel and initrd file with the modules loaded on my golden-client. I
used these to successfully pxe boot install a clone. I'm currently using
3.7.5-1.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [Sisuite-users] Adding modules,Dell 2950 Perc 5/i megaraid_sas
Redhat

Evening,

I've tried my best but need to reach out for some assistance.

I'm running si 3.7.5 (was running 3.6.3 without issues, however I was
hoping 3.7.5 would cure all my driver issues).

Dell 2950, Broadcom dual port nic and Perc 5/i (LSI Megaraid card).

3.7.5 sees the new nic, but the netboot fails no deviced found, kernel
doesn't recognize your devices..

I take that as to mean the initrd.img does not have the
megaraid.sas.ko included, I then unpacked the initrd.img, added a
recent megaraid.sas.ko module under my_modules, added the following
line: insmod megaraid.sas.ko to the INSMOD file, re-cramed it etc. Put
it in place and I receive a error indicating writing to the /proc
filesystem failed because it's read only.

A) I would like to know what I'm doing wrong, B) would like to know if
there is an easier way to add modules, without trying to recompile my
kernel.

I've also downloaded the si source, but that totally fails when trying
to make install_binaries.

I have a hard time believing that megeraid_sas is not built into the
new si initrd.img and thus feel it's something I'm doing wrong.

How do I continue to investigate this? Thanks for any and all
assistance.r
