        Underground Railroad

" The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center educates the public
about the historic struggle to abolish human enslavement and secure freedom
for all people. The Freedom Center teaches lessons of courage and
cooperation from Underground Railroad history to promote collaborative
learning, dialogue, and action in order to inspire today`s freedom
movements." - from the website

This site, focusing on the Underground Railway that helped bring African
Americans north to freedom during the years of slavery, is a rewarding stop
on the Web. With a brief timeline, state maps which list Underground
Railway sites, short biographies and excellent links to other relevant
sites, as well as historical personal accounts, this website provides an
insight into a dark period of the past.
