Dear All, Fedora-standard RPM packages have been generated for the version 3.0.0 of SOCI, and are available for download on: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=252803&package_id=315908&release_id=671238
I have tested those packages on another project depending on SOCI, namely OpenTREP (https://sourceforge.net/projects/opentrep/, download on: https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=252803&package_id=309232&release_id=671826), and it seems to work correctly. I had to re-work a little bit the structure of the v3.0.0 code base (of SOCI: http://opentrep.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opentrep/trunk/soci/), though not modifying the source code itself (except adding a few missing #include directives for GCC4.3 compatibility), and only the MySQL back-end is currently delivered. Moreover, the tests have to be moved into a dedicated directory. The other build mechanism should continue to work, though some small adaptations may have to be done. The main change is that the 'src' directory has been renamed into 'soci', so that the header files can be installed properly in the <prefix>/include/soci directory, without specifying anything else, and so that the compilation works on both the local header files and on the installed version. I would like to emphasize that that work IS NOT a fork: if that packaging is found to be useful for anyone, I would be happy to work with Maciej on its integration within the CVS code base. Moreover, I can work on the delivery of the CVS head in RPM packages, for instance, to add support for the missing backends (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.). If nobody is interested, or if you do not like that concept, then I shall keep that work for myself only and delete the RPM packages from the OpenTREP project repository/download pages. Best Regards Denis
