Hello,

the version 3.0.0 of SOCI has eventually been packaged as RPM, primarily
focusing on Fedora (but it may work on other RPM-based platforms):
https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=252803&release_id=675658
The RPMs can be downloaded from here:
https://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=252803&package_id=315908&release_id=675658

As mentioned in the release notes, only two patches have been added:
* for g++ version 4.3 compatibility (
http://denisarnaud.fedorapeople.org/soci-3.0.0-fix-gcc43-compatibility.patch
)
* for GNU Autotools building compatibility (
http://denisarnaud.fedorapeople.org/soci-3.0.0-fix-gnu-autotools-compatibility.patch
)

Of course, it would be nice to apply (integrate) those patches into the CVS
code base (http://soci.cvs.sourceforge.net/soci/). Otherwise, I shall try to
keep the "shadow Subversion repository" (
http://opentrep.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opentrep/trunk/soci/)
synchronised with the CVS code base.

I have seen that someone has done the packaging for Debian (
http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/soci), but that package seems to have
been orphaned since. Indeed, I would happily join force with the packagers
of other Linux distributions.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested.

Best Regards

Denis
