Hi Francisco,
many helps for your help! I had a look at the Java example and saw, that I need
to configure it in oracle local file.
The only thing I don't yet understand:
The oracle local configuration (tnsnames.ora) is installed on my oracle
machine and my c++ client application as well soci installation on the client
side.
So it doesn't know anything about oracle at all. How does it work together?
Should I place the copy of the configuration file to the client side too? (if
yes, where)

Hi, I haven't used soci + orocle yet but I think you have to configure a
service name in your oracle installation to use in the connection string.
It seems to be the same way with JDBC:
http://w2.syronex.com/jmr/edu/db/oracle-and-java. I hope someone with
oracle+soci expertise read this and correct me in case I'm wrong.

Hello,
I am sorry, I am new to soci-library and can not find out, where
can I configure the IP of the oracle database,
if I create the db-connection using sosi example:
session sql(oracle, "service=orcl user=scott password=tiger");
I get the Error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier
specified
If I put the ip to my connection String like:
session sql(oracle, "servi...@myhost:1521:orcl user=scott password=tiger");
I get the same error message the Error: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the
connect identifier specified
If I replace @ with \\ in the connection string:
I get the Error: Error: ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object
does not exist
