Yes, packages were available for the version 2.2 of SOCI, at least for
Mandriva, Debian and derivatives (e.g., Ubuntu). Apparently, the Debian
packager was Neil Williams, but even the version 3.0.0 Debian package is now
orphaned. I shall see whether I can deliver a Debian package (which should
be fine for Ubuntu as well) with the alien utility.
Now, more for Mateusz:
* First of all, thanks for your prompt interest!
* Then, note that the package has not been approved yet by my Fedora
sponsor: he may still have me amend a few small things before releasing the
package as Fedora mainstream (F10 and F11 updates).
* Also, note that the RPM I delivered for version 3.0.0 just ships with the
pristine HTML documentation, whereas the trunk version (
http://opentrep.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/opentrep/trunk/soci/) proposes a
Doxygen-generated HTML documentation, for instance allowing to incorporate
the API and source code. However, there is still some work to be done to
fully migrate the static pristine HTML pages into generated ones. But, once
done, the documentation will be generated in many formats (HTML, of course,
but also PDF, etc.).
* Moreover, i18n capabilities have been added, for instance in case you
would like to translate into Polish (or me into French)... If that is more
convenient to you, I may submit the corresponding patches for you to
incorporate within the CVS code base.
Do not hesitate if you need some more information.
Best Regards
Denis
