This is an interesting comment. Yes, the whole concept of this kind of 
feedback is controversial, but I'm interested in what kind of use-cases 
drive this request.

Please note that the database library requires a different level of 
involvement from testers. It cannot be just downloaded and tested like, 
let's say, an algorithm library, because it is not self-contained.
In order to test the database library one needs to set up a complete 
database environment and this exactly requires an involvement that is 
not readily provided by testers.

This assumes that within the Boost community there are some people who 
are interested in the database access library and who never heard about 
SOCI (so that merging SOCI with Boost would instantly catch their 
attention). Do you *really* think this is the case? :-)

My point is that including SOCI in Boost would not generate new 
attention. Please note that there was a recent database-related effort 
in Boost and it is not progressing in any clear direction.

Please also note that some users might appreciate the fact that SOCI is 
relatively lightweight in that it does not imply additional 
dependencies. Including SOCI into Boost would immediately destroy that 
advantage.
