And this frustration is mostly explained by not realizing that ODBC backend was in such a bad shape. The documentation only says this about sqlite3 and odbc backends: "The following backends are also available, with various levels of completeness:" but doesn't even hint how broken exactly is it. I definitely expected some things not to work with ODBC but I also expected to get errors about them, not buffer overflows and junk being written to the database. I think it would be really better to document the current limitations at e.g. http://soci.sourceforge.net/doc/backends/index.html. FWIW even after my changes there are still at least a couple of problems remaining: * Binding by name is not supported. * vector<long long> is still not supported (should be simple to fix, in the same way as I added support for scalar long long parameters).
