In the defualt folders on windows "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Softimage 2012.SAP" and I am guessing on linux would be "\usr\local\...".

You can always use sys.platorm/sys.platform.startswith in pyscript to make it work with darwin, win and linux. It makes more sense to have something that's all procedural and still works on all platforms.
