Hi Arne

Unfortunately thats not the correct patent for this process. Fox,
Ginosar and Lockheed Martin were a bit sneaky, they published an
international patent (WO prefix)for this process. I came across a
vague reference in one of their multiple press releases somewhere.
You can find the patent here, and print/download it. Go to:
http://pctgazette.wipo.int/
Do a 'Search IPDL' look for Ginosar as the inventor ie IN/Ginosar.
You will get 9 hits, the one you want is WO 00/05327 (PCT/US99/16669).

>From Toronto University, Pr. David Boocock whipped up a process which
seems to rely on extreme flagellation of the reaction, plus excessive
methanol quantities. This is the BIOX process. See their site at
www.bioxcorp.com The ME droplet size will definitely require a
centrifuge for recovery, this process does not lend itself to
settling tanks. (something to keep in mind for those who are
considering using OFM to speed their reaction up). The smaller the
droplet size, the faster the reaction and the longer the settling
time. More specifics at the Canadian patent Office
here:http://patents1.ic.gc.ca/ search for No 02311400.

Also found at the Canadian Patent Office, Patent Document Number
2316141 :
PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION OF FATTY ACID METHYL ESTERS FROM FATTY ACID
TRIGLYCERIDES . Another single stage high speed process, this one
uses cosolvents and LARGE quantities of methanol which require
recovery.

>From Austria, visit this site. www.rotec.at - there are some lovely
small plants here for those who are always posting about their want
for small continuous production systems. There's even a plant in a
suitcase !! Here you can find reference to Austrian patent No
AT 405938. Do a search and download at the Austrian Patent Office:
http://at.espacenet.com/ - go to '…sterreich' - Austria I assume.
Enter 405938 in the 'Veršffentlichungsnummer:' cell. Bingo. Spechen
ze deutsch ???? For those clever enough, you can download the file
and run it through some software like Babel or SYSTRANS. There is a
wonderful drawing here of what looks like a continuous reactor vessel
of some kind. It looks about 5L in size. If someone who speaks German
could post an overview of this patent I would be all smiles, as I
haven't translated it yet.

And for those 'practiced in the art', as these droll patent documents
waffle on, a clever machinist could whip up one or two of these
centrifuges. I will take three please. Can I pay in Indonesian
rupiah ?? Go to the US Patent Office, find 5,591,340. Isn't it
beautiful !! Also there is 5,571,070, another centrifuge patent.
State of the art.

Cheers
John.
