I did an experiment just last week comparing the reaction
using fresh solution versus 12-hour old solution. I noticed
with fuel-grade ethanol, the eth/methoxide turns deep
yellow over time (mixes without the gasoline turn slightly
yellow, but not as deep), and I was wondering if that would
be detrimental to the reaction. Fortunately, there was
no discernible difference in behavior between fresh and
aged solution.

Can't vouch for more than 12 hours..... -K
