Hello everybody, I was wondering if somebody already did some tests with Na methylate? In the document on http://www.asa-europe.org/pdf/ta_biodiesel.pdf (bottom of page 5) you can find the advantages of using it.
Today I got an email from a chemical company and, here in Belgium, I can get a solution (30% Na-methylate in methanol) for 416EUR/200kg. (that's about 2eur/kg). Technical details are available at http://www.basf.com/businesses/chemicals/alcoholates/pdf/CAA-NAMETLSG30-E-REV3.pdf . That's not the company from who I got the email, but I think it won't be a big difference. Now I would like to know how much I really need for the process per liter of oil. According to the above pdf, low quantities are required: "about 10kg/MT of biodiesel". Can someone tell me what "MT" means? English is not my mothertongue :) I only know that MT means MegaTon and it is used to say how "strong" explosives are, but I don't think that's what they mean ;-) Oh, and for your info, I asked a lab how much it would cost to test my biodiesel against the European standard...- quick, get a chair and sit down-... 1830EUR!!!
