Sudo verifies the configuration using a regular language. It doesn't mean you can't shoot yourself in the foot, but it makes it pretty damn hard. JavaScript on the other hand.. a logic bug or error in the code might bork the entire system and since it's turing complete it's impossible to test for this condition before it occurs.
