I was unable to find an e-mail I knew I was sent. I searched everywhere it could be. My email provider is fastmail, and I have been using fastmail, and theBat! in tandem for longer than I can remember. Fastmail collects all my old POP accounts, and I have some other accounts, such as gmail, which forward to fastmail. In retirement, my filtering needs are far less than they used to be, and fastmail does all my filtering before the mail comes to me.
Anyhow, I thought I’d look at my filters through Fastmail’s webmail system and see if the missing message was somewhere getting filtered some place where I wasn’t finding it. While looking I discovered a folder at the web site to which I was not subscribed. There is a ‘junk mail’ folder which catches lots of junk mail, which I see every day. I was unaware there was also a ‘spam’ filter. There, I found the missing message. Thinking that I didn’t want to now be checking mail at fastmail.com as well as in theBat!, I went off to ‘Manage IMAP Folders,’ to subscribe. Looking at the ‘All’ tab, no ‘Spam’ folder appears.
