Sure, Don is perfectly right, as always. I apologize for my overly generalizing statement.

But in XML2PMX I have chosen the {-} notation for ties. And those are seldomly played in PMX-midi, if at all.

RTFM! True, there are some ties that PMX will not account for when making a MIDI. But the manual states 
"The only ties that are recognized are those using s or ( alone, with no explicit ID number." It 
does turn out this is not 100% correct but the misstatement is in the good direction: if the postscript 
slur/tie option "Ap" has been entered, then "t" ties are also recognized, but again only 
without an explicit index number.
