And after all that, *STILL* no one has been able to answer the question, "Is there a problem that must be solved?" Oh, lots of supposition, rules of thumb, boatloads of experience, etc., but still no determination that something really needs to be solved.
One of the interesting things that came from building the internet protocol suite was a whole bunch of, "well, let's just try it and see," that resulted in a whole LOT of, "Oh, wow, it turns out it's just not a problem because it just doesn't happen."
