;) It's amusing, that's for sure. First, the original issue is from 2000. Then there's someone on the above thread who says it doesn't work with Jetty either. Then there's the fact the OP didn't mention a reverse proxy (which is key to this type of issue) at all. Then even for those 4-year-old complaints, the issue was consistent, not random like the one reported by the OP. So not only is this NOT a known issue/bug, but the JGuru.com link above has nothing to do with the OP's problem.
