Hi Teej, the problem was: The CD-check program delivered inconsistent information. While checking the CD the program reported »I/O error« several times. At the end the program reported »no errors found«.
I could not find adequate documentation. So until now I do not know the name of the CD-check tool. Checking the Ubuntu CD is one of the options after booting from the Live CD.
