Since upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 I too have noticed that xsane launches
automatically as soon as I turn on my Canon MP750 USB printer (which
does indeed have a scanner built in). It's pretty irritating. My lsusb
before & after turning on the printer/scanner:

Before:
$ lsusb

This issue was not apparent in 9.04 & only started since the 9.10
upgrade.
