Chad Miller, thanks for the response. At that time I was using karmic and the then current updates. I do not know what the versions were at that exact time, sorry.
*Subsequently* I re installed with jaunty. U1 update/s came almost at once. Things worked very well for days, with GBs uploading ok. Very impressive. However, immediately following an attempt to throttle bandwidth, U1 has stopped syncing although many files are still yet not uploaded.
